	Blondes vs. Brunettes Dallas 2008 August 2008 - Rep. Branch served as emcee of the opening ceremonies and officiated the coin toss at the start of the 1st annual Blondes vs. Brunettes Dallas Powder Puff football game. Young women from the Uptown Dallas area met at Griggs Park in Uptown for the football game after raising over $60,000 to benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Dallas, more than tripling their initial goal of $20,000. In honor of the outstanding philanthropic efforts, Rep. Branch presented the event organizer, Erin Finegold, with a flag flown over the Texas Capitol in Austin.
	Rep. and Mrs. Branch visit East Dallas' Garden Café July 2008 - Rep. and Mrs. Branch visited one of Old East Dallas' favorite restaurants, the Garden Café. After a hearty breakfast, the Branches toured the garden area with owner Dale Wootton.
	Dallas Regional Chamber July Legislative Luncheon July 2008 -Rep. Branch was joined by Sen. Royce West (D-Dallas), and Rep.'s Tan Parker (R-Denton) and Marc Veasey (D-Fort Worth) at the July Legislative Luncheon for the Dallas Regional Chamber, hosted by Eddie Deen's Ranch in Downtown Dallas.
	El Centro College/Texas Workforce Commission Check Presentation July 2008 - Representative Dan Branch joined TWC Chairman Tom Pauken and El Centro College President Dr. Paul McCarthy at the Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development in South Dallas for a check presentation benefitting El Centro's Skills Development Fund.
	Greenway Parks Historic District July 4th Celebration July 2008 - Representative Dan Branch joined members of the Greenway Parks Neighborhood Association at the flagpole at Stemmons Park to celebrate Independence Day. Branch visited with neighbors and presented them with a flag flown over the Texas Capitol in honor of their recent listing on the Naitonal Register of Historic Places.
	Branch Celebrates the 4th of July July 2008 - Representative Dan Branch celebrated Independence Day with family and friends in and around Dallas. Branch rode in the Park Cities July 4th Parade with daughter Sarah, and later, Dan and wife, Stacey, hosted friends at a cookout.
	Munger Place Historic District Neighborhood Porch Party June 2008 - Representative Dan Branch enjoyed dining on burgers and sharing a few laughs with neighbors in the Munger Place Historic District in early June. Residents enjoyed chatting with Rep. Branch about their historic homes and sharing their experiences living in the historic East Dallas community.
	J.L. Long Middle School Visit May 2008 - Rep. Dan Branch visited historic East Dallas' J.L. Long Middle School. The school, opened in 1933, was designated as a Dallas Historical Landmark in 2004. Rep. Branch joined Assistant Principal Andrew Neiman for the pledges of allegiance and minute of silence, then visited several of the school's top teachers and students.
	Texas Woman's University Commencement Address May 2008 - Rep. Branch delivered the commencement address at Texas Women's University's graduation ceremonies for the College of Professional Education. Approximately 2,200 audience members, including nearly 500 future educators, librarians, principals and communication disorder specialists listened to Branch's remarks. After the ceremony, Branch joined TWU Chancellor Dr. Ann Stuart at a reception to greet the new graduates and their families.
	Swiss Avenue Historic District 35th Annual Mother's Day Home & Garden Tour May 2008 - Rep. Branch joined members of the Swiss Avenue Historic District at the champagne brunch Sunday morning in Savage Park to celebrate the neighborhood's 35th-annual historic home and gardens tour. In honor of the annual East Dallas Mother's Day tradition, Rep. Branch presented the members with a flag flown over the Texas Capitol, and later visited with neighbors and tour visitors.
	Munger Place Historic District 30th Annual Home Tour May 2008 - Rep. Dan Branch helped usher in the Munger Place Historic District's 30th Annual Home Tour. Branch attended the sponsors dinner on Friday evening and presented the neighborhood association members with a flag flown over the Texas Capitol. After the presentation, Branch had the opportunity to visit with many of the neighbors in historic Old East Dallas.
	Greater Dallas Pachyderm Club April 2008 - Rep. Dan Branch offered the lunchtime address to the members of the Greater Dallas Pachyderm Club at their monthly meeting held at Eddie Deen's Ranch in Downtown Dallas.
	William Lipscomb Elementary Visit April 2008 - Rep. Branch visited Dallas ISD's William Lipscomb Elementary School to help lead in the saying of the pledges of allegiance and minute of silence. During his visit, Branch had the opportunity to visit with Principal Yolanda Gonzalez and Assistant Principal Monica Gonzalez, as well as several pre-K students. Branch also visited with a member of the Lipscomb PTA about the importance of the school to the community.
	Highland Park Library Grand Re-Opening April 2008 - Rep. Dan Branch joined Highland Park Mayor Bill White, City Councilwoman Gail Madden and Library Board member Bonnie Case at a ceremony commemorating the re-opening of the newly renovated Highland Park Library. Branch was honored by Ms. Case with a resolution from Texas Library Association for his strong support of libraries and learning. Later, Branch addressed the crowd and presented Mayor White, Ms. Case and Councilwoman Madden with a flag flown over the Texas Capitol in honor of the historic re-opening.
	Branch Serves as Master of Ceremonies at Medina Children's Home Dinner April 2008 - Rep. Dan Branch welcomed thirteen hundred guests to the Medina Children's Home Dinner at the Fairmont Hotel in Downtown Dallas. Among the guests were quarterback Colt McCoy and wide receiver Jordan Shipley of the UT Longhorn football team, and their head coach, Mack Brown, who delivered the keynote address. During the evening, Branch honored Coach Brown with a commemorative certificate, sang the Texas alma mater, The Eyes of Texas, with the players, and enjoyed hearing the many success stories told by Medina Home students.
	Branch Recognizes SMU Cheerleaders and Dance Team April 2008 - Rep. Branch visited the SMU campus to congratulate the Cheerleading and Dance teams on their recent national championship performances. Branch presented SMU Spirit Coordinator Zac Brannon with a flag flown over the Texas Capitol and a commemorative certificate, and presented each student athlete with a personalized congratulatory letter.
	J.W. Ray Elementary "Top Readers" Luncheon March 2008 - To help honor J.W. Ray Elementary's "Top Readers", Representative Branch hosted the thirty 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students to lunch at Chili's Grill & Bar. Each of the students completed twenty or more books during the Fall 2007 semester and have continued their eager reading habits into the spring. J.W. Ray Principal Bernette Austin, who was also honored by Rep. Branch, created the Top Readers program as a part of her school-wide Earning by Learning efforts.
	Branch Welcomes AFI Dallas Film Festival March 2008 - Representative Branch walked the red carpet on a windy opening night of the American Film Institute's 2008 Dallas Film Festival. The opening night festivities were held at the historic Majestic Theater in Downtown Dallas. Several Hollywood stars, including Helen Hunt, Mickey Rooney and Bill Paxton, followed Branch and other VIPs on the red carpet for the premier of Hunt's directorial debut film, Then She Found Me.
	Branch Welcomes Former Prime Minister John Howard to Dallas March 2008 - Chairman Branch welcomed Former Prime Minister of Australia John Howard and his family to District 108. The Prime Minister spoke to members of SMU's John Goodwin Tower Center for Political Studies at the home of Harlan and Kathy Crow during his first trip to Dallas.
	The Dallas Center for Rehabilitation Groundbreaking Ceremony March 2008 - Rep. Branch offered remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Dallas Center for Rehabilitation. Afterwards, Branch helped turn the first shovel of dirt on the site.
	Branch Honored Retiring HPDPS Chief Darrell Fant March 2008 - Rep. Branch honored Highland Park Department of Public Safety Chief Darrell L. Fant with a flag flown over the Capitol and a commemorative certificate for his over thirty years of service.

	Highland Park ISD Dad's Club Februrary 2008 - Representative Branch spoke to the Highland Park ISD Dad's Club members at their monthly breakfast meeting, held at University Park Elementary. Branch told those in attendance of the issues he foresees during the next session.
	SMU Chosen as Site of the George W. Bush Presidential Center Februrary 2008 - Representative Branch was among select dignitaries in attendance as SMU President R. Gerald Turner and representatives from the Bush Library Foundation officially announced that SMU would be the site of the Bush Presidential Center. The Center, to be located in the heart of District 108, will consist of a library, a museum and an institute, is scheduled to be completed within 5 years.
	Branch Attends SMU Crum Basketball Center Opening Februrary 2008 - Representative Branch was on hand for the opening ceremony for SMU's new Crum Basketball Center. The new facility contains separate full-size practice courts for both men's and women's basketball teams, as well as locker rooms and lounges, and a fully equipped training and rehabilitation room with in-ground hydrotherapy pools. SMU broke ground on the Center in December of 2006 as part of an effort to recruit more competitively with other schools across the nation.
	Branch Speaks to the Texas Association of School Boards Februrary 2008 - Branch presented at the Texas Association of School Boards Region 10 February meeting. As Chair of the House Select Committee on Higher and Public Education Finance, Branch continues to visit with professors, students and school boards, among many others, in an effort to seek ways to better fund education in the state of Texas.
	Texas Junior State of America Winter Congress 2008 February 2008 - Rep. Branch helped kick off Winter Congress Convention 2008 for the Texas chapter of the Junior State of America, delivering the keynote address during the opening ceremonies. High school students from Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Honduras were eager to begin a weekend full of policy debate and political deliberation. Founded by students for students in 1934, the Junior State of America serves students seeking to become active and informed citizens.
	Branch Visits UT Dallas with Speaker February 2008 - University of Texas at Dallas President David Daniel led Rep. Branch on a tour of the Natural Science and Engineering Research Laboratory at the UTD campus. Joining Branch was Rep. Jerry Madden (R-Collin County), and House Speaker Tom Craddick (R-Midland), along with many of the head researchers at the University. After the tour, UTD faculty and staff presented for the group on the many research initiatives happening at the school.
	Branch Talks with College Students February 2008 - Rep. Branch, an OCU alumnus, served as a panelist at the 2008 OCU Student Leadership Retreat.
	Branch speaks to Small Business Owners January 2008 - Rep. Branch chatted with the members of the American Subcontractors Association of North Texas at the Association dinner, held at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field Airport.
	REEL FX Creative Studios Tour January 2008 - Rep. Branch tours REEL FX Creative Studios, located in Deep Ellum with Arts Commissioner Cobie Russell. The studio provides core services, such as visual effects, animation design and creative editorial. Their work includes recent commercials for Gatorade and Nike, as well as films such as Open Season 2, and The Wild.
	JW Ray Elementary Visit January 2008 - Rep. Branch visited J.W. Ray Elementary to help lead the morning announcements, the pledges of allegiance and the minute of silence. Afterwards, Branch toured several classrooms, visiting with some of the top teachers and students with Principal Bernette Austin. Branch has toured many of the schools in District 108 during the past few months.
	Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary Visit December 2007 - Rep. Dan Branch made a visit to Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary School in East Dallas. Along with visiting with Principal Alejandra Lara, Dan led the pledges and minute of silence at the weekly assembly, helped honor recent award recipients and stopped by the classrooms of some of Zaragoza 's top teachers.
	Leadership Dallas December 2007 - Rep. Dan Branch was the featured speaker at the Greater Dallas Chamber's Leadership Dallas class for December. Leadership Dallas serves to identify, educate and engage potential local leaders. The current class is set to graduate in early 2008.
	Highland Park High School U.S. History Class Visit December 2007 - Rep. Branch joined Mrs. Janice Knott's senior U.S. History class to discuss the history of the Texas Legislature. After the presentation, Dan fielded student questions on what the legislature was planning on doing in the upcoming session.
	Friends of the Park Cities Republican Women Address November 2007 - The newly formed "Friends of the PCRW" invited Rep. Branch to address the members at the home of Margaret and Lester Keliher.
	Vickery Towers Thanksgiving Visit November 2007 - The Branch family made a visit to Vickery Towers senior residences the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to share some holiday spirit. The Branches also brought freshly baked pumpkin pies to share with the residents.
	Uptown Dallas Association "Uptown Lights" Tree Lighting November 2007 - Rep. Branch served as the honorary guest at the 2nd annual Uptown Dallas Association's "Uptown Lights" event. Branch served as the master of ceremonies by giving a holiday address at the Post Worthington Apartments to around 100 members of the Uptown community, and then counting down to the lighting of the tree.
	SMU Football Honorary Team Captain November 2007 - Rep. Dan Branch served as honorary team captain for the SMU Mustangs as they hosted the University of Central Florida in their last home game of the 2007 season.
	DaVita Dialysis Downtown Dallas Clinic Visit November 2007 - Rep. Branch spent the afternoon at the downtown clinic to chat with the doctors and patients administering and receiving dialysis treatment. DaVita Downtown Dallas has been serving the city for little over a year.

	Select Committee Panel Discussion at UT Dallas November 2007 - Chairman Branch is joined by Select Committee Vice Chair Scott Hochberg and Select Committee members Rep. Geanie Morrison and Rep. Helen Giddings for a panel with more than 500 UTD students to discuss higher education financing issues affecting today's college students. The panel was moderated by UTD President Dr. David Daniel.
	Branch named Humane State Legislator by U.S. Humane Society October 2007 - Rep. Dan Branch was honored with the "2007 Humane State Legislator Award" from the United States Humane Society. Branch was a top leader in animal legislation during the most recent session, with the passing of his bill, "Simba's Law," which requires municpalities to consider pets when making emergency and evacuation plans.

	Visiting Nurses Association : Meals on Wheels June 2006 - Rep. Branch was present for the send off of the Meals on Wheels volunteers. With the assistance of these volunteers, VNA Meals on Wheels delivers more than 2,600 nutritious hot meals to homebound ill, elderly and disabled persons in Dallas County each day.
	J. W. Ray Learning Center "Brightest Readers" April 2006 - Rep. Branch awarded J. W. Ray Learning Center's "Brightest Readers" with an honorary lunch at On the Border. The "Brightest Readers" program recognizes students who read more than 20 books and take the accompanying tests within a certain period of time.
	Central Dallas Ministries Playground Opening February 2006 - Rep. Branch participated the Central Dallas Minstries' Grand Opening Ceremony celebrating the construction of the S.M.A.R.T Playground. The playground was donated by Frito-Lay and Kaboom as part of a nationwide program to keep kids healthier by providing a fun way to stay physically active.

	Park Cities Republican Women Family Picnic Rep. Branch participated in the first annual Park Cities Republican Women's Old-Fashioned Famiy Picnic on August 28, 2005. The picnic featured many activities, some of which were face-painting, trainrides, and a petting zoo. Other attendees included U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Congressaman Pete Sessions, and Dallas County Judge Margaret Keliher.
