Speaker Tom Craddick has appointed Rep. Dan Branch (R-Dallas) to the Legislative Budget Board. Branch replaces Rep. Fred Hill (R-Richardson) who resigned from the board and is not seeking re-election to the House. The Legislative Budget Board is an agency of state government that performs a variety of duties relating to state finance, including adopting a state spending limit, preparing reports for lawmakers, and (at least for the next two years) approving comprehensive development agreements authorized by the Texas Transportation Commission. "Representative Branch is a distinguished legislator with a long history of service to his community," said Craddick. "I am honored that he's decided to accept this new role, and I look forward to our continued work together to secure the financial future of the state of Texas."
