Rep. Fred Hill, R-Richardson, said Monday he is giving up his seat on the powerful Legislative Budget Board to make room for another Dallas-area lawmaker, Rep. Dan Branch, R-Dallas.
Hill, who is not seeking re-election, is retiring in January after a 20-year legislative career. He said he will continue as chairman of the Local Government Ways and Means Committee.
The 10-member budget board, headed by Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and House Speaker Tom Craddick, deals with emergency budget matters when the Legislature is not in session.
