Rep. Dan Branch  (R-Dallas) joined with numerous federal and state legislators, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, and Dallas ISD School Board members at the Dallas "Commit!"; Press Conference and legislative briefing.  Rep. Branch, who serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Higher Education, spoke to the media, saying that "Education is the critical issue of our time". The event was held at Dallas ISD's Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, a school that has been named the top high school in America on numerous occasions.

May 2012

Rep. Branch spoke to local CPAs on a legislative panel outlining outcomes from last session and expectations for the next legislative session that convenes in January 2013. Rep. Branch was joined by colleagues, Reps. Harvey Hilderbran, John Otto and Jim Pitts, as well as State Senator Florence Shapiro. Following the panel, Branch met with Senator John Cornyn, who served as the keynote luncheon speaker.

Rep. Dan Branch (R-Dallas) joined in celebrating United Technologies Corporation's $1 billion in investments in the company's Employee Scholars Program.  The EPS allows employees of UTC's many companies to attain a college education while continuing to work.  Nearly 30 former SMU students who participated in the EPS program were on hand, as well as Jeffrey Pino, President of Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, and state Sen. Florence Shapiro (R-Plano).

Rep. Dan Branch (R-Dallas) joined the over 5,000 people on hand for the Texas Family, Career and Community Leaders of America state convention.  The organization (formerly known as the Future Homemakers of America) held its annual state meeting at Dallas' Hilton Anatole Hotel.  Branch welcomed the students and teachers to "Big D" and then delivered a message on leadership and vision for Texas.

Rep. Dan Branch (R-Dallas) spoke to the over 60 members of the Highland Park High School Young Republicans Club during the group's April meeting.  Branch spoke about his experience in the legislature and on the importance of being an engaged citizen.  Branch was joined by former HPHS School Board member Jeff Barnes.

Rep. Dan Branch (R-Dallas) speaks to the members of the SMU Faculty Club.  Branch, who serves as Chair of the  House Committee on Higher Education, updated the members on the future of higher education in Texas.

Chairman Dan Branch, Chair of the House Committee on Higher Education, moderated a panel for the members of the North Texas Commission, focused on the importance of higher education research to Texas' future.  Panelists included Dr. Peter Dysert, Chief of Pathology at Baylor Health Care System; Martin Izzard, VP and Director of Texas Instrument, Inc.'s R&D Labs; Jeff Lowinger, Executive Vice President of Bell Helicopter; and Krish Prabhu, President and CEO of AT&T Labs, Inc.

Representative Dan Branch was honored to lead the Pledges of Allegiance of the Texas and United States Flags during the Diamond Jubilee Luncheon celebrating Ethyel Stallings and 60 years of the Republican Women Leaders of Dallas County.

Rep. Dan Branch speaks at the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge sunrise dedication. Branch was joined by State Senator Royce West (D-Dallas) and Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, as well as U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, U.S. Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, and MHH Bridge Architect Santiago Calatrava. The ceremony also included hundreds of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, who performed a "ribbon run" across the new bridge.

Branch joined a host of other elected officials, including U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions. Branch, who authored the legislation that enabled Margaret Hunt Hill's name to be honored with the naming of the bridge, spoke about the significance of the event for the City of Dallas, and recognized numerous individuals for their dedication to the project.
