J.L. Long Middle School Visit
Rep. Dan Branch visited historic East Dallas' J.L. Long Middle School. The school, opened in 1933, was designated as a Dallas Historical Landmark in 2004. Rep. Branch joined Assistant Principal Andrew Neiman for the pledges of allegiance and minute of silence, then visited several of the school's top teachers and students.
Rep. Dan Branch delivered the commencement address at Texas Women's University's graduation ceremonies for the College of Professional Education. Approximately 2,200 audience members, including nearly 500 future educators, librarians, principals and communication disorder specialists listened to Branch's remarks, which encouraged the graduates to reverse engineer their calendars, bring energy to the room, and to teach to serve. Rep. Branch joined members of the Swiss Avenue Historic District at the champagne brunch Sunday morning in Savage Park to celebrate the neighborhood's 35th-annual historic home and gardens tour. In honor of the annual East Dallas Mother's Day tradition, Rep. Branch presented the members with a flag flown over the Texas Capitol, and later visited with neighbors and tour visitors.
Rep. Dan Branch helped usher in the Munger Place Historic District's 30th Annual Home Tour. Branch attended the sponsors dinner on Friday evening and presented the neighborhood association members with a flag flown over the Texas Capitol. After the presentation, Branch had the opportunity to visit with many of the neighbors in historic Old East Dallas.
Rep. Branch tours the Harlingen campus of Texas State Technical College, one of six colleges in the TSTC System. Rep. Branch met with campus president Dr. Gilbert Leal and visited with the innovative professors and students of TSTC who are finding successful ways to meet the workforce needs of our economy throughout the state of Texas.
